Alappuzha is famous as the Backwater hub of Kerala with interlocked canals, lagoons, backwaters, shores and has a close proximity to the Arabian Sea. Alapuzha beach is one of the important tourist destinations which attract maximum tourists because it enjoys an important place in the maritime history of Kerala. The biggest attraction in this beach is the 137 year old pier which extends right into the sea and the reminiscence of the 19th century 1000 ft high lighthouse.
