History

Kottayam is a small district in God’s own country Kerala. Kottayam name came from the word Kott(fort) and akamm(inside) is more likely resembles a Tamil word. Meaning of the word is same in both languages ‘the interior of the fort’. Kottayam district is named by its town of Kottayam.

This city is known as Akshra Nagari (city of alphabets) magically the literacy is also 100% in 1989 and first tobacco free district in India. This City is added a proud of well known as Land of letters Lakes and latex.
