About Malik Deenar Juma Masjid

Malik Deenar Juma Masjid is named after the first propagator of Islam in our country. It is situated in the town of Thalankara of Kasargod district. For this reason, the mosque is sometimes known as Thalankara Malik Deenar Juma Masjid. It is one of the first mosques that was built by a posse of men led by Malik Ibn Deenar in Kerala and Karnataka.

The architecture of the mosque is similar to other temples of the state. It has pagoda-like roofs, which is the characteristic of the area. Kerala tourism has ranked this as one of the top places to visit in Kasargod. The mosque is located in the outskirts of the town, in a locality which is not very bustling. Malik Ibn Deenar built another similar mosque in the heart of the town around the same time.

History or Myth

Malik Deenar Juma Masjid is one of the ancient mosques in the country. Malik Deenar is the one who brought the religion of Islam to India. After the death of the Prophet Muhammad, he had a vision, in which he was instructed by the Prophet himself to hastily go to India and spread the word of the God. In addition to this mosque, Malik Deenar constructed mosques in various other parts of the country.
